NFL Mexico announces November game at Azteca Stadium

Mexico City, Mexico — NFL Mexico has announced the return of NFL games to Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. After a two year delay due to the covid-19 pandemic, the agency reports a game scheduled for November.

NFL Mexico has announced a game at Estadio Azteca with an NFC West matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals. The game is set for November 21 at 7:00 p.m.

“After a forced two-year break, we are very excited to return to Mexico to the Azteca Stadium field with an NFL regular season game, where we are sure that the fans will accompany us to once again enjoy the experience that represents a League game in our country,” said Arturo Olivé, director of the NFL in Mexico said back in February.

This will be the second time that both teams meet in Mexico since 2005.

“In 2005, when the Cardinals hosted the first NFL regular season game played outside of the United States, we experienced firsthand the extraordinary support and incredible passion of our fans in Mexico,” said Cardinals owner Michael Bidwil.

“We know that it has increased exponentially in the years since and we are excited to return to Mexico City and the Azteca Stadium in 2022.”

Tickets for the November 21 regular season game will go on sale in August when the 49ers will play the Arizona Cardinals at Estadio Azteca. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. (ET).
