Cancun, Q.R. — UPDATED: The body of a woman has been found in a green area in a troubled suburban region of Cancun.
The discovery of the body was made Tuesday morning at 7:15 in SM 249 in a green area at the end of Chac Mool Avenue. Reports say the woman, who has not yet been identified, was approximately 25 years of age.
Preliminary reports say the woman, who was shot five times, was likely killed someplace else and then dumped in the area.
Authorities of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) said the young woman was holding a gray purse, which was open and empty.
In April of this year, the body of another woman who was found shot to death was also found in the same green area of this latest victim.
UPDATE: The young woman found murdered has been identified by her family as 25-year-old Cinthia N. Her family says she worked for a Cancun pirate ship company last year then moved to another part of the country for work. She had returned to Cancun to live only days before her death. She leaves behind two children.
