Calvillo, Aguascalientes — A woman fell to her death on Christmas day when she attempted to take a selfie at a popular tourist site in Mexico.
According to Miguel Olguín, director of Civil Protection of Aguascalientes, the young woman fell to the bottom of the dam when she tried to take a selfie in the most touristy place in the municipality of Calvillo.
The tragedy occurred on Christmas when 20-year-old Monica arrived with three of her friends. The accident occurred at 3:00 p.m. when the woman fell over the edge of the dam and landed on rocks about 15 meters below.
State firemen and Civil Protection staff from Calvillo arrived to rescue the body of the young woman, which they accessed at 6:00 p.m. that evening. She was found without vital signs and was transferred to the Directorate of Expert Services of the State Attorney General’s Office.
