Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A 23-year-old male has been detained by Isla Mujeres police after the report of a robbery.
The young man was arrested by elements of the Dirección General de Seguridad Pública y Tránsito Municipal (DGSPyTM) on Isla Mujeres after they received a report from a woman that she had been robbed. The woman was able to identify the young man she claimed stole her property.
Island police say on Thursday, they arrested José G.P.R. of Isla Mujeres for his probable responsibility for a criminal act of robbery.
José G.P.R. has been held for later referral to the Public Ministry. Jaime Ongay Ortiz, the general director of the DGSPyTM says it is important that citizens who are victims of criminal acts follow up with official complaints so those responsible are held accountable and not freed.
