Cancun, Q.R. – With an investment of more than seven billion peso, Xcaret will begin construction of their new hotel mega project.
Experiences Xcaret is set to begin construction on the first of its nine-hotel project that will see 5,500 rooms added to the Riviera Maya. The project is divided into two sections, one being Ya Ax Uj-Luna Verde which will consist of seven hotels over 72 hectares and will offer swimming pools, shopping centers, bars, restaurants, spas, sports courts and a beach club.
Once complete, Ya Ax Uj-Luna Verde will be a seven-hotel complex offering a total of 4,500 luxury hotel rooms on existing Xcaret Park land.
The second section of the project is called Roca Selva and will consist of two hotels, one of 600 rooms and the other with 400 rooms, adding another 1,000 hotel rooms to the Riviera Maya. Roca Selva will have a commercial area, convention center and artificial canal and will be built on an area of 32.7 hectares located in the municipality of Solidaridad.
Xcaret submitted their application to the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) for the hotel mega-project in late 2014. The entire project that will see the additional 5,500 rooms will be constructed over a 20-year period.
