Woman pulls over just in time as car catches fire leaving Cancun

Cancun, Q.R. — Passing motorists were witness to a burning car outside Cancun Friday. The driver of the burned unit said within seconds of barely stopping, the car burst into flames. Luckily the woman was able to get out and was not injured.

The incident was reported to emergency services Friday after her car suddenly caught fire while she was traveling the Federal Highway. The incident happened after leaving Cancun. The driver and owner of the car, Margarita N from Guanajuato, was heading toward Puerto Morelos when her 2006 Ford suddenly caught fire, forcing her to pull over. Within seconds of stopping, the car burst into flames.

Two units from the Cancun fire department responded to the call. Supervisor Gustavo Baena, who helped extinguish flames, said the vehicle was a complete loss.
