Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Police say the men who shot a woman outside a bar in Playa del Carmen have been arrested.
A woman was shot and killed in the middle of the street outside La Marimba bar on Calle 1 Sur and Avenida 45 in Colonia Centro de Playa del Carmen over the weekend. Although paramedics were called, they arrived only to confirm the death.
According to preliminary information, the shooting took place shortly before 9:00 p.m. Witnesses told the police that four subjects tried to take the woman with them from the bar, and when she refused, they took her out to the street.
Once outside, one of the men pulled out a gun and demanded she get in the taxi that was waiting. When she refused, he placed the gun under her jaw and pulled the trigger. She apparently died instantly.
Bar security called emergency 911.
Municipal police set up road blocks to locate the men, who, according to witnesses, hopped in a local taxi numbered 641. The taxi was stopped on 85th avenue between 19th and 21st South streets after it was seen driving at excessive speed.
A state patrol arrested the taxi driver and the four alleged criminals, all of whom were taken into custody.
Ministerial police arrived to collect data while forensic personnel came to remove the body.
