Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A specialized K-9 dog is responsible for the arrest of a woman who was attempting to take the Playa del Carmen ferry to Cozumel with a load of drugs.

Elements of the Specialized Canine Unit in the Detection of Narcotics of the Federal Police, seized a woman with two suitcases that inside, contained marijuana. The drug bust totaled 43 kilos that police say, would likely be the equivalent of 43,000 doses on the streets.

The discovery and arrest occurred at 11:45 a.m. at the busy PDC-Cozumel ferry crossing, Muelle Navega Maritime Terminal of Playa del Carmen. Federal police were conducting random reviews of luggage when the dog took notice of her two black suitcases.
