Woman arrested after abducting 4-month-old Playa del Carmen baby

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A woman who was found carrying a missing four-month-old baby has been arrested for abduction.

The State Attorney General’s Office says that Victoria N has been taken into custody for the crime of the abduction of a minor after a four-month-old girl was reported stolen from a home in Colonia Gonzalo Guerrero in central Playa del Carmen.

With the collaboration of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Yucatan and intervention of the Federal Police, the woman and the baby were located on a bus in the state of Yucatan.

The report of the abduction of an infant in Playa del Carmen was reported Saturday to Federal Police who said the woman who abducted the baby was likely to take flight in an ADO bus passing through Mérida or along the Chetumal route to Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz.

The information was shared with the State Security Bureau, immediately implementing an inter-institutional search and location operation. Hours later, police halted an ADO bus in the state of Yucatan and arrested the woman who they found carrying the 4-month-old baby.

She was placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office while her legal status is determined.
