Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A warehouse fire belonging to a Playa del Carmen hotel resulted in extensive damage to the building, but no human injuries.
The fire broke out Sunday in a warehouse that belongs to the Sandos Caracol Hotel. The building was completely consumed. Firemen from Playa del Carmen were called to the scene to deal with flames after receiving the report through Emergency 911.
Five fire fighting units were sent to the scene where firemen were able to douse flames that eventually consumed the 5,000 square meter building. Their fast response allowed for flames to be contained. There were no reports of injuries to hotel staff.
Elements from Solidaridad Civil Protection continue to evaluate the property to determine the cause of the fire and damage to the structure.
