VIP Fleet launched by taxi union to compete with Uber

Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun’s Union of Taxi Drivers, Andrés Quintana Roo, has officially launched their own private car service, one that has been put into place to compete with companies such as Uber.

VIP Fleet is up and running, offering locals and tourists a new private car service. Instead of flat rates, VIP Fleet has digitally metered vehicles to control tariffs. The meters are monitored by satellite and do not charge by mileage, but by time and distance. An automatic user fee of 15 peso is applied to all fares. The car service will run 24 hours per day from the city’s C4 command center.

Passengers using VIP Fleet will receive similar services to that of Uber, with general information about the car driver and an approximate cost.

The app for VIP Fleet can be downloaded online for both Android and IOS systems. All VIP Fleet cars are models no more than five years old, have air conditioning and considered in excellent condition. Throughout the month of December, VIP Fleet will offer discounts and promotions.
