Unregistered plane fails inspection, grounded at Cozumel

Cozumel, Q.R.– An airplane that landed at Cozumel has been grounded after a federal inspection finds irregularities.

An aircraft was grounded at the International Airport of Cozumel by the Federal Police for having a serial number different from that stated on its certificate. The aircraft, which had arrived from Colombia, was inspected at around 8:00 p.m. at the Cozumel International Airport.

Federal Police on the FBO platform of the International Airport of Cozumel reviewed the CL601. Officials found that the serial number of the plane did not match that stated in its certificate of airworthiness.

The aircraft was insured and made available to the Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) of the Ministry of Communications and Transportation, which will determine its legal status.

The incident comes just one day after a private plane landing in Cancun was inspected and found to have an expired air certificate. That aircraft was also grounded.
