Cancun, Q.R. — The state’s Secretary of Tourism has confirmed that Uber is to be regulated in the state of Quintana Roo.
Secretary of Tourism Marisol Vanegas confirmed that Uber transport service will soon be regulated through an initiative that will be presented to the State Congress. The regulation will see the company able to use their mobile application as well as other transportation services legally throughout the state.
Marisol Vanegas stated that they are defining the last details to present the bill “in a well-structured way” to ensure that Uber is no longer banned. He added that the regulation is necessary for the purpose of ending the ongoing conflicts between taxi drivers and Uber.
“We hope that in a couple of months we can present the proposal to regulate the service in Quintana Roo and avoid more violent clashes between transporters,” he said.
