Two young women found dead in Cancun dump

Cancun, Q.R. — Updated: The bodies of two young women have been discovered along a road to an old dump in Cancun.

At 6:26 a.m. Thursday, the bodies of two women were found in a dump located in Arco Vial by someone collecting garbage. Emergency 911 got the call and immediately sent police to the site.

Municipal police arrived where they found the bodies of two young girls. While not a lot of information has been released, one of the girls is said to have been reported as missing. One was wearing a hotel bracelet. Both are said to be between 18 and 20 years old.

The area was cordoned off while other officials arrived. The State Attorney General’s Office arrived to collect evidence. Both bodies are reported to have bullet wounds. They were taken to the Forensic Medical Service for an official cause of death.

Update: According to the Attorney General’s Office, the father of one of the girls approached the Public Prosecutor’s Office to identify the body of his daughter, 18-year-old J.X.O.R.

He told police that he last heard from his daughter June 6 when she was going to eat with a friend on Avenida Lopez Portillo. She was at a sleepover with another female friend that he did not know. He learned of her death through social networks.

The second woman has been identified as 23-year-old Deysi de la Cruz originally from Chiapas but residing in Playa del Carmen. She was identified by her brother.

Both women suffered a bullet wound to the head.
