Two taken to hospital after group of tourists crash outside Tulum

Tulum, Q.R. — A group of tourists from Peru managed to overturn their rental vehicle along the highway to Bacalar. The accident was reported to authorities by other motorists who stopped to find a hatchback of females crawling out passenger-side vehicle windows after coming to a stop on the driver’s side.

Witnesses told police the vehicle spun several times after the driver lost control due to excessive speed and wet roads. The group of seven women were vacationing in Tulum, but heading to Bacalar to stay when the accident happened.

While five only reported minor scrapes and bruising, two of the women were transferred to hospital after complaining of back and head pain.

The damages were estimated at more than 150,000 peso.
