Cancun, Q.R. — An alleged attack against a Cancun patrol unit created chaos as other police arrived, resulting in the arrest of two.
Reports of gun fire against a state patrol unit in Cancun along JosĂ© LĂ³pez Portillo Avenue Friday morning created chaos when dozens of officers arrived on scene. The shots were recorded at 11:20 a.m. against a police vehicle near the city’s exit toward Merida.
The shots resulted in 15 police units arriving on JosĂ© LĂ³pez Portillo Avenue to locate the shooter(s). Preliminary reports say that two men in a white van allegedly shot at the state police truck, which is when reinforcements were requested.
After an intense search that involved a police helicopter, police officers reported the arrest of two suspects, neither of which were identified.
There were no reported injuries.
