Two people shot multiple times entering Cancun mall

Cancun, Q.R. — A man and woman were shot at as they entered a Cancun plaza Friday night. The couple were outside the doors of Plaza Las Tiendas when they were hit with bullets by a passing motorcycle.

The shooting occurred in front of dozens of people. Police and paramedics arrived and found the woman had been shot three times. The man was also shot. Both were rushed to hospital. There is no word on their condition.

Police say that at 9:15 p.m., two men on a motorcycle drove by the front of Plaza Las Tiendas in Cancun and opened fire on a couple entering the mall. Mall security reported the shooting to Emergency 911.

Police arrived to find the woman lying on the floor with several bullet wounds. They cordoned off the area and evacuated shoppers to allow paramedics to give first aid to the injured.

Agents of the Ministerial Police continue to investigate. Witnesses say two hitmen were on board a motorcycle who shot at the couple several times then fled to Lopez Portillo Avenue. There were no arrests.
