Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two additional criminal complaints have been filed against ex-state leaders as Quintana Roo awaits the return of its previous governor through an extradition order.
The latest criminal complaints are for the alleged diversion of between 300 and 400 million peso. Municipal president Cristina Torres Gómez says the irregularities were discovered through an audit of public accounts.
She says they have a “very firm” administrative procedure for finding irregularities committed in the previous government, which has resulted in the addition of two more criminal complaints filed by the State Superior Audit.
Torres Gomez stressed that “fast track” files can not be done because the files must be strengthened with evidence so that the arrest warrants can be activated, as the municipality has already done with five previous orders.
“The trials are not overnight,” she said. “Any politician who says that in two seconds a process can be decided is falsifying information.”
