Tulum, Q.R. — A man was shot in Tulum Wednesday while in his car. The shooting occurred on Av. Tulum in front of the Municipal Palace.
At approximately 8:39 Wednesday morning, numerous shots were heard by locals as two men on a motorcycle fired at the driver of the car from the oncoming, opposite lane. The pair then fled on their motorcycle, only to be chased down by police.
Witnesses say that as many as nine shots were heard as the two men on the motorcycle then took to the highway and headed toward Playa del Carmen.
Police were quick to intercept the men, arresting both.
After a search, they were found to be in possession of two firearms, one of which was a Smith & Wessonn. Both men, guns and their motorcycle were seized.
Emergency medical services arrived to tend to the injured man inside the car. He sustained at least one bullet wound. His passenger was not injured.
