Two Isla Mujeres construction workers removed from job site and shot to death

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Two men were found shot to death on the Continental Zone of Isla Mujeres Wednesday. Both men were found dead outside a complex under construction. Police were at the scene of the mainland Isla Blanca site where the bodies were discovered. Both men were construction workers for a hotel project currently being built.

According to preliminary information, four armed people entered the construction area around noon and forcibly removed two of the workers who were then shot. Paramedics were called, however, they were only able to confirm both were deceased.

Additional police and military personnel arrived, but were unable to locate those responsible for the early afternoon shootings. In a brief social media statement, the FGE says the deaths of the two men are under investigation.

In December, the FGE publicly announced that two bodies found on a property near Isla Blanca were that of two missing construction workers. Their announcement came after the arrest of two men in November who were believed related to the deaths of other missing construction workers.
