Two Cubans arrested in Cancun on American warrant

Cancun, Q.R. — A man and a woman of Cuban nationality were arrested in Cancun Wednesday after a US request in locating the pair.

In response to a request for support from the United States, Mexican federal police arrested the pair who were wanted in the United States on charges of organized crime. The arrest warrant stems from the state of Texas where the duo are wanted for bank fraud.

The federal police of the Directorate General of Personnel and Borders of the Division of Regional Security provided support to sheriffs of the US Marshals Service office to arrest the two identified as Jorge N and Leydi N of Cuba.

Mexican police found the couple at the Latino Cubano Restaurant of which they owned, on Avenida Uxmal in central Cancun.

They were transferred to the office of the PF at the Cancun International Airport for processing. They were later handed over to the National Institute of Migration (INM), who in turn, delivered them to US marshals who will transfer them to Texas.

Both were wanted by a Texas court from an arrest warrant that was issued on October 4, 2017.
