Two cruise companies confirm Cozumel, Mahahual as ports of call this year

Cozumel, Q.R. — Two cruise ships are now confirmed to dock at ports in Quintana Roo this year. Marisol Vanegas Pérez, State Secretary of Tourism made the announcement. She says that one ship will arrive at Cozumel in June and the second at Mahahual by NCLH who recently announced they will resume sailing in August.

She detailed that in June, Royal Caribbean will set sail from the Bahamas and make landfall in Cozumel. The second confirmed cruise ship is of the Norwegian Cruise Line with a berth scheduled for the Mahahual port in October.

Vanegas Pérez said that the ship bound for Costa Maya has not yet made the dynamics of their itinerary known, only that it has announced Costa Maya as a port of call. According to their schedule, the Norwegian Joy will leave Miami and dock at Cozumel before making its way to Mahahual in Costa Maya as part of their October schedule.

Celebrity Cruises by Royal Caribbean announced they will be the first to set sail from the United States on June 26, with their ship, Celebrity Edge. Celebrity Cruises CEO and President Lisa Lutoff-Perlo shared the news on social media.

“We’re making history today! After receiving the green light from the CDC, #CelebrityEdge will set sail from Fort Lauderdale on June 26, making her the first ship to sail US waters once again.”
