Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two men have been arrested after police stumble upon them in the middle of a drug deal in a residential area of Playa del Carmen.
The arrest of the two men was made in the Pedregal neighborhood of Playa del Carmen around 10:30 p.m. when the Policías Municipales de Solidaridad reported seeing two men making a drug deal. The two men were standing in between their vehicles when the deal was reportedly made.
Police say they were on a surveillance tour of the area when they came across the men. Both were standing between their vehicles when police witnessed a bag of what turned out to be cocaine, exchanged between them.
Once the men spotted police, however, both took cover in their vehicles and attempted to flee, but were stopped.
During an inspection, police reported finding several bags of cocaine which led to their arrest. They were transferred to the facilities of the Dirección General de Seguridad Pública where they were made available to the appropriate authorities.
Both vehicles were seized and remain under the guard of Seguridad Pública.
