Two Americans arrested in Cancun airport after weapons found

Cancun, Q.R. — Federal Police officers arrested two Americans at the Cancun airport after they were found carrying weapons and cartridges.

A man and a woman were arrested at the Cancun International Airport after federal police found them each carrying a 9mm gun and more than 100 cartridges. The pair were also found carrying ammunition for other guns including a pistol and shotgun.

The federal police officers were performing a routine inspection when they stumbled upon the weapons. The pair were arrested in Terminal 3 after landing from a Miami flight.

Neither could prove the legal paperwork needed to bring weapons into Mexico. However, they did argue that they were in Cancun to vacation and were told in their country that they could “carry arms around the world.”

Both were placed at the disposal of the Federal Public Ministry.
