Tulum, Q.R. – During this next year, Guillermo Haro Bélchez says that the town of Tulum will get its own Profepa substation.
Bélchez, who is head of the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Procuraduría Federal de Protección al Ambiente — Profepa), says that during the 2016 year, they will install a Profepa substation in Tulum.
The goal is to have a permanent presence in the town that will help with the operational insight along the coastal strip of Tulum and Akumal. Having a substation will allow better handling of permits, the status of authorizations and concessions.
Profepa is also hoping to regulate all maritime zone activities in the municipality to protect the environment and other natural issues, including the right to use and enjoy the beaches.
