Tulum, Q.R. – Nearly every room in the seaside town of Tulum is reserved for the upcoming Spring Break season.
Hotels and cottages of Tulum National Park (TNP) are reporting a 95 percent occupancy rate for the Easter holidays. They report that most of the reservations are international travelers and that any remaining rooms will likely be taken by last minute travelers.
In theory, a large percentage of travelers to the region are usually domestic visitors since Easter is a popular vacation time for the Mexican people, however this year, approximately 80 percent of the reservations are monopolized by international visitors, while only 20 percent are Mexican travelers.
Alejandro Cepeda, reservation manager with Villa Pescadores, says that they are 100 percent booked for the holiday season and have been for nearly a month. He says from Easter until the last week of April, they usually remain full.
