Tulum police officer helps in rescue of 11-year-old street boy

Tulum, Q.R. — A police officer in the town of Tulum assisted a young boy who was found living on the streets. Authorities became aware of the young child after a citizen report to the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection of Tulum (SSyPC).

The officer located the 11-year-old at the intersection of Luna and Polar Street. The shoe less boy sat on the street to talk to the officer, who learned that the boy was indeed without a home.

In a statement, the City of Tulum reported that as per law, the minor was placed under the protective care of DIF, the National System for Integral Family Development (Desarrollo Integral de la Familia).

Details as to the whereabouts of his family or how he ended up on Tulum streets remains unknown.
