Tulum police make arrests after finding loaded weapon, hundreds of street doses of drugs

Tulum, Q.R. — Elements of the Quintana Roo Police arrested five people and seized more than 600 street doses of drugs in Tulum. Their arrests were made Sunday afternoon along Kukulcán Avenue during a routine police patrol.

The four men and one woman were handcuffed after a citizen reported them to police, saying he had been offered drugs moments before. A search operation for the group lead them to an area of Kukulcán Avenue where they witnessed a drug transaction.

An inspection of those involved revealed a loaded weapon, ammunition and 647 street doses of various drugs, a majority of which was cocaine, although mushrooms, pills, hash and marijuana were also found.

The detainees were transferred to the State Attorney General’s Office for the corresponding legal procedures.
