Tulum firemen battle stubborn land fire for more than two hours

Tulum, Q.R. — A property fire that emitted a large amount of smoke had Tulum firemen busy Sunday. The fire, which began on a private lot, consumed not only the vegetation, but also wood structures, palapas and several motorcycles.

It was around noon Sunday when firemen arrived on Mercuiro Street only to find flames quickly spreading due to the strong winds. Quintana Roo Police were also on scene guarding the area against onlookers due to the quick flames and bellowing smoke.

According to the caretaker who lives there with his family, a large part of the land is used to store wood. Tulum firemen spent more than two hours trying to extinguish the stubborn flames. There were no injuries reported.
