Playa del Carmen, Q.R. – Transport fares between Playa del Carmen and Tulum will see an increase beginning October 1.
Allen Vicente Aguilar Díaz, manager of Vans Foráneas in Playa del Carmen, announced the official price hike earlier in the week. He said that the increase will also affect passengers taking the Cancun to Playa del Carmen route.
As of October 1, the price of a single ticket will increase by 12.5 percent for Tulum goers and 12 percent for those leaving Playa for Cancun. The cost will now be between 40 and 45 peso from Playa del Carmen to Tulum and between 36 and 38 peso from Playa to Cancun, depending on the time of day.
The reason for the sudden price hike is a combination of changing economics and gasoline price increases.
