Cancun, Q.R. — A tourist has died aboard a LAN flight bound for Cancun.
The 60-year-old woman died on board LAN Airlines yesterday after fainting and falling unconscious during the flight. The incident occurred at 2:00 onboard LAN Airlines flight 2598, which was bound for the Cancun International Airport from Lima, Peru.
Carmelina Cevallos Gonzalez, 60, died of a heart attack. The plane landed in Cancun at 5:30 that evening. Medical personnel met the plane but were unable to do anything.
An Aeromexico plane also made an emergency landing in Cancun yesterday reporting a passenger without vital signs. Aeromexico flight 695 made the emergency landing at 10:30 from Caracas, Venezuela on a flight that was bound for Mexico City.
The plane arrived at the Cancun International Airport where forensic medical service personnel certified the death of the man, originally from Venezuela.
