Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A large swordfish was discovered by a city lifeguard washed up on a Playa del Carmen beach.
The man made the find on the beach of Punta Esmeralda in Playa del Carmen’s north end. According to his report, it was during a tour of the area when he spotted the dead fish laying in the sand. The swordfish was more than two meters in length.
Authorities from the Federal Attorney General’s Office was requested along with elements from Environmental Protection (Profepa). Officials arrived to cart the fish away to determine its cause of death.
