Cancun, Q.R. — A man who shot at Cancun police was chased down and arrested Friday night after refusing to stop at a breathalyze check point.
A patrol car from the Directorate of Traffic of Cancun chased down a private vehicle driven by a 50-year-old man who was reportedly in a state of drunkenness. Reports say that the man happened upon a breathalyzer check point and tried to avoid police.
Not wanting to be stopped, the driver took off. The incident occurred at 11:50 p.m. at the junction of López Portillo and Chac Mool avenues. The car, which was traveling along Chichén Itza Avenue, encountered a roadblock of 10 police units, however, the driver carried on, slamming into the back panel of a police truck.
That was when he decided to fire at police. The man, who has not been identified, was subdued and arrested.
