Three of nine former police officers believed involved in kidnapping and extortion ring captured

Toluca, State of Mexico — A total of nine former police officers in the State of Mexico are believed part of a kidnapping and extortion ring. On Monday, the Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado de México (FGJEM) reported that three of those nine have been arrested. There are currently outstanding arrest warrants for the remaining six.

The FGJEM reported that of the remaining six, two are investigative police officers and four were agents from the Secretary of State Security.The three already captured are former investigating officers.

Abel Isaac “N”, Herminio “N” and Bernardo Adrián “N” are the first of the nine to be captured. All three are currently being held in the Santiaguito Penitentiary and Social Reintegration Center in Almoloya de Juárez.

The Prosecutor’s Office is still in search of the other six, who they have identified as Oscar “N” and José Luis “N” who Agents of Investigation of the State Prosecutor’s Office. There are also arrest warrants for Gildardo “N”, Diego Armando “N”, Hugo “N” and María Enedina “N”, former elements of the Secretary of State Security.

According to the FGJEM, all nine are part of a criminal kidnapping and extortion cell in the Toluca Valley, among other places. They are also being investigated for other criminal activity.
