Three killed when plane crashes into Walmart supermarket

Temixco, Morelos — Three people were confirmed dead and others injured after a small plane plowed through a Bodega Aurrerá of Walmart.

The report of a falling plane was made Monday at 1:05 p.m., killing all three inside the small aircraft.

The plan crashed in the parking lot, but skidded and came to a stop inside the store. Preliminary reports said three people inside the store were injured at the time of the accident. They were a 58-year-old woman and two men, aged 54 and 38.

The plane ended up inside the store after breaking through a portion of the Bodega Aurrerá concrete wall.

The secretary of the Temixco City Council, Carlos Caltenco Serrano, confirmed that the pilot and co-pilot, as well as a crew member of the plane, died. They have been identified as pliot, 47-year-old Mauricio “N”, his 34-year-old co-pilot Paulina “N” and 46-year-old Alejandra “N” who was traveling as a passenger. All three were from the state of Puebla.

Civil Protection authorities of Morelos stated that the aircraft left the port of Acapulco bound for Puebla when the accident happened. The cause of the collapse is still unknown. “It will be the Civil Aeronautics authorities who carry out expert reports to establish the cause of the mishap,” the Morelos government said in a statement.
