Three dead in two shootings in Cancun Sunday

Cancun, Q.R. — Three men were shot Sunday in two separate incidences in Cancun’s troubled area of Tres Reyes.

The first shooting occurred at 9:40 a.m. in Tres Reyes. Police say two men were walking along a dirt road when they were approached by a car. The men inside the car opened fire, shooting at the men more than 20 times.

The victims were discovered on a dirt road in the second section of the irregular colony of Tres Reyes on the outskirts of Cancun. Police say an AR-15-type of gun was used in the attack. The General State Deputy Attorney General’s Office found 23 caliber .223 casings.

A second shooting in the same residential colony was reported around 1:00 p.m. Sunday on the main road of Colonia Tres Reyes. Witnesses day that one man was shot several times.

An ambulance arrived to transport him to the hospital, however, he died along the way from multiple gunshot wounds. He was reported to be between 21 and 25 years of age.

In both shootings, the municipal police cordoned off the areas for investigations by staff of the State Attorney General’s Office.
