Three boys rescued from strong Mahahual current

Mahahual, Q.R. — Three minors were saved by navy personnel after they nearly drowned due to large swells.

A distress call reported that three minors were in choppy waters located outside a Mahahual restaurant and seemed unable to return to shore. Naval Search and Rescue quickly set out to locate the three boys.

When personnel reached the site where the boys were reported to be, they found they had already been helped by someone in a kayak. Elements of la Armada de México proceeded to bring the boys back to shore where they received medical treatment.

The three were reportedly swimming and being dragged by the strong current. When they arrived on shore, medical attention was provided to one of the minors at El Poblado beach who had a superficial wound to his neck, for which Naval Health personnel provided first aid.

After a health review, the three boys were returned to their parents.
