Three arrested during Cancun police shootout charged with attempted murder

Cancun, Q.R. — Three men who were arrested after exchanging gunfire with police in Cancun earlier this week have been identified. The Secretariat of Public Security of Quintana Roo confirmed the arrest of three men identified as Joel N, Juan Antonio N and Miguel N.

They are accused of attempted murder to the detriment of the elements of a Cancun police patrol after a shootout Wednesday night. The exchange of gunfire between police and the trio of criminals erupted after patrolling police responded to the sight of a man carrying a rifle.

The arrests were carried out along Del Bosque Avenue in Supermanzana 43 where police saw a subject leaving a home carrying a long firearm. As they approached, they were attacked with bullets by two other men who were on the second level of the building.

Three alleged members of a criminal group were arrested. During their arrests, police seized two long weapons, a knife, money and tactical vests. They remain at the disposal of the Public Ministry.
