Taco thief threatens Playa del Carmen stand owner with knife, but owner has machete

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A taco thief received a surprise he didn’t expect when the owner of the stand pulled out a machete after he refused to pay.

After consuming several tacos, the thief threatened the taquero with a dagger, refusing to pay for what he ate and also demanding cash. With his dagger in hand, the taco thief got more than he bargained for when the taquero began swinging a machete.

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. in the Colonia La Guadalupana. Witnesses told police that the man had arrived at the stand, asked for tacos and ate. The moment the stand owner turned his back, the man took out a knife, threatening him and demanding money.

However, the taquero surprised the abusive client when he whipped out a machete that was hidden in the cart. Taking a swing, the taco thief was hit in the arm. He fell to the ground and was subdued by the taco merchant.

After ensuring the thief was unable to move, the merchant then called Emergency 911. Police arrived and called for an ambulance. Reports say the taco thief received a 20 cm gash from the machete and was transferred to hospital.
