Mexico City, Mexico — The famous sandwich chain, Subway, says they have their sights set on opening 50 restaurants in Mexico during 2018.
The sandwich chain is going into the restaurant business with a new concept called Fresh Forward. This concept will see their sandwich shops transformed into spacious but minimalist restaurants.
“The goal we have in Mexico is to consolidate the 1,016 restaurants that we have and start to make an evolution to a new concept that we call Fresh Forward, which is our restaurant of the future,” explained Héctor Huerta, general manager of Subway Mexico.
Under this concept, the new restaurants will be more spacious but minimalist with digital menus and a food preparation area that will allow greater interaction between the client and the sandwich artist.
In 2018, the company says they will transform at least 120 sandwich shops of the famous Subway chain, and over the next five years, will work on remodeling their other sandwich shops throughout the country.
In Mexico, Subway has 1,016 restaurants with 192 located in Mexico City. Globally, Subway has more than 44,000 locations.
