State postpones return to classes after increase in covid infections

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — A delay in the return to classes for the state has been announced. Ana Isabel Vásquez Jiménez, head of the Secretary of Education has announced the delay due to a rise in covid-19 infections.

She said beginning January 3, students around the state will return to distant learning until January 14.

“Starting Monday, January 3, our basic education schools will be working remotely, from preschool to secondary education,” said the head of state education. For upper secondary and higher education students, distant learning will begin on January 10.

On January 14, education authorities will report on changes, which will be effected by the color of the state’s epidemiological light.
