Acapulco, Guerrero — The government of Guerrero has declared itself on alert after announcing that Tropical Depression 17-E is generating rain in the regions of Costa Chica, La Montaña and the Centro del Zona that have already seen streams overflow.
The head of the State Civil Protection, Marco César Mayares Salvador mentioned that the storm is 50 kilometers southwest of Oaxaca, adding that the main areas of risk are the mountain regions and Costa Chica.
The storm is expected to hit Guerrero during the late night hours of Thursday, creating landslide situations due to the expected heavy rainfall.
Already, streams have begun to overflow in neighboring regions, trapping motorists. Residents are being told “not to lower their guard” before the arrival of the system.
