Cancun, Q.R. — Federal officials for the state of Quintana Roo are taking the fight to congress to formally request a change in electricity tariffs.
This week, federal deputies of Quintana Roo are gathering in congress to sign a point of agreement to ask the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit to notify the Federal Electricity Commission and the Energy Secretariat that the state requests a tariff change.
Federal officials are requesting the tariff be changed for the state from the current 1B rate to 1D, the same tariff request that was granted to the state of Yucatan.
The fight for the tariff change will be taken to congress by state deputies Jose Luis Toledo, Arlet Mólgora and Patricia Sánchez, who say just as the state of Yucatan did, they too will present a fight in the Chamber of Deputies to get the rates changed.
Jose Luis Toledo said that it is not a personal fight, but a fight for the people of Quintana Roo that today need the support of the government of the Republic to reduce the high tariffs that they are paying for electricity.
