Speed likely factor in Cancun truck topple

Cancun, Q.R. — A truck that collided with a center ridge in the Cancun Hotel Zone was left overturned affecting traffic.

The accident occurred at kilometer four of the Cancun Hotel Zone when the driver of a truck miscalculated his turn and hit a meridian, causing his vehicle to overturn onto its side. The collision and topple resulted in a gas and oil spill over the roadway.

Members of the Tourist Police arrived saying the driver was likely driving too fast when he lost control and collided with the central ridge, making contact with a concrete structure that marked the kilometer along Boulevard Kukulcán.

Although the driver of the truck suffered minor injuries, he was not transported to hospital. Members of the Cancun Fire Department also arrived on scene to clean up the fuel and oil spill.
