Cancun, Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Don’t put the extra blankets away just yet. Meteorologists with the Servicio Meteorológico Nacional report that after the passing of Cold Front 19, another cold front is expected to arrive on its tail.
While the jet stream from the US swept across a large portion of the country, including Cancun and Riviera Maya, a second system is not far behind that will again, see nighttime temperatures drop to the low teens.
The Servicio Meteorológico Nacional says that while warm conditions will remain for the days, cold temperatures will be felt during the evenings, which will last into the early morning hours as another cold front moves into the region for this weekend.
The new cold front, which is expected to reach the Cancun, Riviera Maya region Saturday, will affect much of the northeast. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain high, between 31 C (87F) and 33 C (91F), however, at night, the front will see local temperatures dip to between 13 C (55F) and 15 C (59F).
The Servicio Meteorológico Nacional reports that rainfall is not expected with the new front. The system, Cold Front No. 20 which is arriving from the U.S., will enter Mexico in the northwest and make its way across to the northeast by the weekend.
Cold Front No. 20 will see nighttime temperatures drop to between 8 C and 10 C degrees for Mexico City and between 3 C and 5 C degrees for the State of Mexico.
