Six injured in Cancun boat collision

Cancun, Q.R. — Six people were left injured after a boat collision in Cancun. The incident took place Friday at the Punta Sam maritime terminal.

Emergency 911 received the call of two boats colliding at sea around 5:30 p.m. when they were returning from an excursion at Boca Inglesia. The boat that was reportedly hit was named Hamilton.

Witnesses said that the clash occurred between Isla Mujeres and Cancun when a small boat lost its way and ended up hitting a ferry.

Emergency services went to Punta Sam where they found a small boat and a handful of injured people. Three ambulances arrived to transport those who needed medical attention to hospitals.

The reported injured included a 72-year-old captain, along with a 63-year-old passenger. The youngest reported injured was a 12-year-old girl.

Police and firefighters also arrived. An investigation into the accident is underway.
