Mazatlan, Sinolta — The beginning of shrimp season did not start well for one boat that was completely engulfed by flames shortly after leaving dock in Mazatlan.
For reasons not yet specified, a shrimp boat caught fire Monday around 9:00 p.m. shortly after leaving its dock. The boat was see in flames approximately 300 meters from Crestón hill lighthouse (Faro de Mazatlán).
The vessel, Sebastián I which had just set sail, was completely destroyed. Members of the Armed Navy of Mexico were able to rescue the crew of seven fishermen, arriving to help extinguish the fire.
The remains of the boat were towed to the dock of Parque Alfredo V. Bonfil for further investigations.
