Seven believed part of Los Pelones drug cartel arrested in Cancun

Cancun, Q.R. — The alleged leader of a cell of the criminal cartel Los Pelones along with six others, were arrested during an operation by the FGE.

In a statement, the State Secretariat for Public Security reported that the capture of these alleged criminals was the result of a joint operation by the Quintana Roo Police and the state’s Attorney General.

According to the information provided, among the detainees is a subject identified as Aquilino N, who is considered the leader of a cell of the criminal cartel Los Pelones. Authorities say that the six men that have been detained are all from the state of Tabasco, while the lone female arrested is from Acapulco, Guerrero.

The seven were arrested with high-powered weapons and a large variety of drugs. They are believed active members of an organized crime group based in Cancun. Authorities also said they found a notebook with the names and phone numbers of varying people, leading them to believe the group could also be involved in extortion.
