Playa del Carmen, Q.R. – Weather forecasters are predicting a rather hot Friday for the Riviera Maya with temperature sensations hitting around 46 degrees Celsius.
A combination of high heat and humidity will see daytime temperatures around the Riviera Maya hit nearly 46C. Regional meteorologists are advising people to use extreme caution when out in the sun.
On Thursday, the weather from Cancun to Tulum remained warm, with daytime temperatures reaching 34 degrees Celsius, an ideal climate for beachgoers. However, the extreme forecasted heat can quickly burn the skin and leave people in the sun dehydrated.
Recent weather conditions have seen wind gusts at 35 to 40 kilometers per hour and temperatures that range between 34 degrees Celsius in the day to 27 degrees Celsius at night. When the humidity of 86 percent is factored into the mix, an average day heat sensation of 38 degrees Celsius has been felt.
However, Friday the heat is expected to intensify as the daytime thermometer maxes out at between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius with humidity that will push the daytime sensation to the 46 degrees Celsius (115 degrees Fahrenheit) mark.
It is recommended that people not stay long under direct sunlight, keep themselves hydrated and protected to prevent heatstroke.
