Riviera Maya Jazz Festival has new dates for 2016

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The fourteenth edition of the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival has been changed from its usual end of November dates.

The new dates for the annual event are December 1 to 3. The reason for the date change, according to Darío Flota Ocampo, director of Fideicomiso de Promoción Turística de Riviera Maya, are to reduce production costs.

The annual budget for the event is a round 15 million peso, however, the cost of musical productions and travel expenses cost more during high travel times such as American Thanksgiving, so moving the dates to December cuts costs.

Flota Ocampo says that recruitment negations are currently underway so no names for the upcoming event will be released yet.

The Riviera Maya Jazz Festival is a free annual event that takes place each year at Mamitas Beach Club in central Playa del Carmen. Approximately 20,000 people attend the 3-day event.
